Away
I feel a frequent pull to escape the isolation of my studio in its very middle-of-nowhere setting and connect with urban life, not just for the contrast, but for human connection and the energy and aesthetic that urban spaces offer. These environments are essential for recharging something I find difficult to articulate in both me and my work. The visual noise of a city, its clutter and pace stand in sharp contrast to the slow, quiet rhythm of rural life. A tension between rural and urban runs through my work. Some of these photographs are taken around Regent's Canal, I love the way nature, human life and art clashes there. I keep a separate instagram page of canal path observations here.
