Paintings - 2024-2025
These paintings come from a place of not knowing - figuring something out, I don't even always know what I'm trying to work out - it's just something intuitive but I know it when they're finished. I follow the work and the materials rather than a fixed plan - often to music. Most of these paintings have began as figurative or representational paintings that I’m ready to abandon and through a process of unravelling and reworking, shift into something else entirely. At times, abstraction becomes a form of escape, a self-soothing response to the intensity of making narrative or conceptual work.
